This eLearning prototype course centers around a newly graduated fictional nurse practitioner character who navigates the nuances of Oppositional Defiance Disorder (ODD) and Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder (DMDD). By engaging with these interactive scenarios, learners will be able to apply their knowledge in real-world clinical settings with confidence and precision. Through this learning path, Nurse Practitioners will be empowered to independently diagnose patients, equipped with a deep understanding of ODD and DMDD.
eLearning Prototype

My Role:
The goal of the training is Nurse Practitioners be able to examine risk-factors and diagnostics of ODD and DMDD during an intake to independently diagnose a patient. This training presents information on ODD and DMDD risk-factors, diagnostics, and where they overlap. The training is interactive, with scenario based knowledge checks to reinforce understanding.
Process:
Identify ID problem, meet with SME to create task analysis, conduct needs and learner analysis, develop learning objectives with bloom's taxonomy table of objectives to align knowledge and cognitive process dimensions, design multimedia plan, storyboard (visual and written), objective-activities-assessment outline, Gagne's Nine events planning grid, action map, style guide, create assets received formal feedback from colleagues.

Explainer Videos
Overview
I created these animated explainer videos to provide a quick and concise introduction to identifying key characteristics of Oppositional Defiance Disorder (ODD) and Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder (DMDD). The goal was to visually break down the diagnostic criteria and symptoms associated with each disorder, making it easier for viewers to understand and retain the information.

Purpose/Intended Audience:
My target audience for these videos is pediatric nurse practitioners, particularly those in training or new to the field of child psychology. I aimed to equip them with the knowledge to recognize and differentiate between Oppositional Defiance Disorder and Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder during patient assessments, ensuring they can make accurate diagnoses and provide effective care.

Process:
To create these videos, I started by developing a detailed script outlining the symptoms, risk factors, and diagnosis processes for each disorder. I then used Canva to design animations and visuals that would clearly and engagingly illustrate these points. My focus was on enhancing understanding through visual learning, making complex psychological concepts accessible and memorable.
Outcome:
These explainer videos have been successfully incorporated into micro-courses on pediatric psychology and behavioral disorders. Feedback from learners indicates that the videos have been effective in helping them quickly grasp complex concepts, improving their diagnostic skills and informing their clinical practices. Seeing the positive impact on learners' understanding and confidence has been incredibly rewarding.

Canva: Utilized for creating animations, graphics, and the overall layout of the explainer video.

Articulate Storyline Interactive Elements
Overview:
This series of interactive assessments is crafted to evaluate learners' understanding of key course concepts in pediatric nursing. The assessments incorporate a mix of multiple-choice questions and real-world scenario-based simulations to test knowledge and application skills.

Purpose/Intended Audience:
Designed specifically for newly graduated nurse practitioners at Paperflower Psychiatry, these assessments aim to test their prior knowledge and mastery of post-course learning outcomes, ensuring that the educational objectives of the course are met effectively.

Process:
I started by identifying the core learning objectives of the pediatric nursing course. From there, I constructed questions and scenarios that aligned with these objectives, challenging learners to apply their theoretical knowledge in practical situations. Using Articulate Storyline, I designed interactive elements to actively engage learners and provide immediate feedback, enhancing the learning experience and aiding retention.

Outcome:
The pre and post assessments have been successfully embedded into the pediatric nurse practitioner course. They serve as critical tools for measuring learners' knowledge gain and retention. Feedback from these assessments has been instrumental in refining course content and instructional strategies, ensuring the course remains effective and relevant. Tracking the growth in learners' confidence and skills has been incredibly rewarding, confirming the value of these interactive assessments.

Tools Used:
Articulate Storyline: Utilized for creating and programming the interactive assessments, enabling sophisticated user interactions and immediate feedback mechanisms.
Interactive Assessments
Overview:
I developed this series of interactive assessments to evaluate learners' understanding of key course concepts in pediatric nursing. These assessments incorporate a mix of multiple-choice questions and real-world scenario-based simulations, aimed at testing both theoretical knowledge and practical application skills.

Purpose/Intended Audience:
The interactive assessments were designed specifically for newly graduated nurse practitioners at Paperflower Psychiatry. My primary goal was to assess their prior knowledge and the mastery of post-course learning outcomes. Ensuring that the educational objectives of the course are met effectively is critical, and these assessments are tailored to prepare nurse practitioners for real-world clinical environments.

Process:
I developed these assessments by first identifying the core learning objectives of the pediatric nursing course. Questions and scenarios were then carefully constructed to align with these objectives, challenging learners to apply theoretical knowledge in practical, clinical contexts. The interactive elements were designed to engage learners actively and provide immediate feedback.

Outcome:
The pre and post assessments have been embedded into the pediatric nurse practitioner course, serving as critical tools for measuring learners' knowledge gain and retention. Feedback from these assessments will also be instrumental in refining course content and instructional strategies.

eLearning Module Flow Chart

Style Guide
Overview:
I created this flow chart to provide a visual planning guide of a five-day online course designed for nurse practitioners, detailing the sequence of learning activities and assessments.

Purpose/Intended Audience:
The purpose of this flow chart is to offer a clear and structured visual roadmap of the course schedule and content delivery, ensuring all stakeholders have a concise overview of the course components.

Process:
The flow chart was developed by creating the course objectives and breaking down the daily activities and assessments into a logical sequence. This process involved mapping out each day's focus, integrating both instructional content and assessment methods to ensure comprehensive coverage and effective learning progression.

Tools Used:
Lucid Sparks was utilized to create this flow chart, chosen for its collaborative features and ability to easily modify and update the visual outline as the course design evolved.
